I was going to write a long whiny blog post about our Arabic classes, but I gave it the 24 hour rule (my mom's favorite) and I am kind of over it. Basically- one of our teachers surprised us last week with the addition of "office hours" (two hours of required extra class per day--- a term that definitely got lost in translation) into our program. Basically what that means is that we have returned to upper school and are expected to be in class from 9:30-5:30 including a lunch break). It's a painfully outrageous amount of class time. It is only scheduled for the last five days of classes (June 27/28 & July 1-4), but it's TERRIBLE. We are exhausted, the teachers are exhausted, and they have run out of material to teach us. Not fun for any of us. Waed said that these extra classes (3:30-5:30 every day) are optional, but that doesn't matter because nobody wants to be that student who skips the extra classes. That being said- I have sucked it up for the past 3 days, and today is 1/3 of the way over (ughhhh). We have tomorrow class from 9:30-5:30, and then our exams the next day. NO IDEA when I am going to study for these exams because the last thing that I want to do when I come home from SIX HOURS of Arabic classes is more Arabic... Our teachers are very understanding and trying to work with us, but apparently the program won't let us switch up the schedule to make it less painful for everyone involved. I think the crux of the issue has to do with money, which really sucks (it's just paper, right?????????).
I am also finally O V E R falafel- I can't and won't eat another bite of it for the next week that we are here.
That being said...
ONE WEEK TILL MOROCCO !!!
