Friday March 30

Friday was a very American day. We had only Arabic class and then couscous. The rest of the day free! Sara, Sarah, Alexa and I decided to go to Agdal (the ville nouvelle- new city- nice/modern part of Rabat). It was great. We took the tram and went shopping. The stores were similar to “Foxy Lady” on 14th street by Union Square and H & M. I got a little nolstagic for the New London Mall, but I got over it quickly. All of the stores were the same, and I got in that “I don’t want to be shopping anymore- I am exhausted” mood. I was in DIRE need of a DC, and made it well known. We found the “Mango” store, but it was unimpressive. I was proud of myself for not getting anything- I totally could have, but it is not necessary. After Mango I was in DESPERATE need for a diet coke. Found one and I was a new human.

At the deli that I found my DC, we saw a man carrying…. DOMINOS!!! We didn’t think too much about it, but then we decided that we definitely wanted to eat some pronto. I scurried after him, and asked where he got it. He told us to “go left and then right”. They turned out to not be the best directions, but we stumbled upon PAUL and went in for a free piece of delicious bread. Definitely returning during ISP to get a 20 dirham macaroon. Sarah’s sixth dominos sense was in full gear, and she found it. I was so impressed. It was right by Cartier. We got chicken kickers, chicken wings, and a pizza with peppers, onions, pepperoni and mushrooms. It was unbelievable. I tried to savor every bite- it was very similar to American food. My first American food experience in Morocco- I was pretty surprised that I made it 9 weeks.

After Domino’s we headed back to Rabat Ville. I totally knew where we were, which was a good feeling! Sara and I went to Hotel Belima to drink a beer (or two…) and I also got a chocolate chaud. We weren’t ready to go home yet, so we stalled a lot. Once we got home I think I went straight to bed.
