Today was good, but I am going to write very little about it. Class was fine- Arabic was fun, lecture was boring still (surprise surprise). Lunch time we sat at our normal table, and I actually feel sun-fatigued right now because it was so sunny/hot. I got a lot of freckles and my arms def appreciated the Vitamin D....
I wanted to go to the hammam with my friends. They make all of the shower decisions because they do not have showers in their houses, so we went to the one that has real showers in it, and not the full, all-out hammam. It was a fantastic experience because even though I have a shower... It's not real. This water was PIPING hot and I made my stall (bigger than u'd expect) into a sauna. I shaved my legs (first time here...) and stretched a lot bc I feel very tight. It was magical. I wanted some towel lounge time, so I kinda rushed and then sat outside in my towel waiting for my friends. I started to crash because I only ate half of lunch. We decided to get food. We walked to the restaurant that we ate our first meal here, and we were going to just get 2 for 3 (me sara sarah) pizzas... even tho I was craving something healthy (weird). We looked at the menu and decided on salads instead. I got the caesar (almost always a safe bet) and it was delicious. As with everything here, it wasn't exactly a caesar salad, but it was delicious regardless. A lot of croutons and breaded chicken... gouda cheese (that was fake according to Sarah, which is probably why I liked it) tomatoes and shredded lettuce. I ate literally every last bite- it was huge. I have definitely had much worse caesar salads, but it was a far cry from the Bus Stop. We also split frenchfries and bubbly water. yum yum yum.
It was late(~7 pm), so we went home. I got nervous bc I was SO stuffed and did not want dinner, but knew that I would end up eating it if it was in front of me, so I mentally prepared myself and asked my sis how to say "I am not very hungry". I just want to say that my family is the best. Honestly I feel very blessed to have been placed with them... I feel totally at home, and they are always laughing or smiling. I think they have a similar humor to me, but I don't know exactly because I don't know what they're saying. My siblings LOVE their parents, and are very affectionate. I love it. I am always smiling when I am in this house. I sat at dinner and ate a few sips of soup, a fig, and 2 dates- it was perfect. Simo wanted to see my itinerary so I showed him and he gave me pointers for all of the stops that we are making. He also told me last night that there was a hotel in the Sahara and I gave him a hard time, but guess where we are staying--- a hotel. (I think we are actually physically SLEEPING in tents outside, but it is associated with a hotel where we eat our meals, AND it has a pool. Mom I need that bikini pronto pronto... JK its going to be 35 degrees Fahrenheit the night that we are staying there) I promised Simo that I would always believe everything he said from then on-- a very dangerous promise.
I think this trip is going to rock. We had an orientation about it today, and it sounds great. I am not going to go into the details bc I will explain them after they happen, but I am very very excited. I love bus rides, and I think we are going to be spending a lot of time on the bus. I am going to catch up on a lot of sleep. I have a lot to do before Saturday at 7:30 a.m. (in the morning-- nickii), but as always I will get it done. My one WOW of the day was: I am having my laundry done for me tomorrow morning... My "mom" said she would do it for me and that she has looked for my laundry every time that she has done wash, but I don't keep a laundry bag, so she didn't know what to wash and what not to wash.
